EVTT

T&B - Institute of Tendon and Bone Regeneration

Director: Univ.-Prof. Dr. Andreas Traweger

Motivated by an urgent clinical need, the focus of our work is to understand fundamental processes in tendon and bone pathology & regeneration in order to allow the development and the translation of novel therapeutic modalities into clinical practice. In the context of the EV-TT project, we are evaluating the regenerative potential of extracellular vesicles isolated from mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC-EVs) in preclinical animal models for tendon and bone tissue repair. [see homepage]

  • establishment of preclinical small animal tendon and bone defect models
  • establishment of analytical methods (e.g. histology, biomechanical testing, µCT, etc.) to evaluate and quantify tissue regeneration
  • obtain ethical approval for animal experimentation
  • demonstrate therapeutic activity of MSC-EVs for patellar enthesis regeneration in a small animal model
  • demonstrate therapeutic activity of MSC-EVs for rotator cuff repair in a large animal model
  • demonstrate therapeutic activity of MSC-EVs for bone regeneration in small animal models (femur and calvaria)
